Geoff Haywood 1944-2022

Geoff Haywood

1944 to 2022I sadly have to inform you that Geoff passed away last week .

Geoff was a long time member of MMFC who joined the club back in the 1970's shortly after it was formed.

Back then it was all control line flying as Radio was far too expensive for most club flyers . Geoff's interests in RC fling was mainly sport model but in later years he would generally turn up with a vintage model with a vintage diesel engine for an afternoons flying.

Geoff always enjoyed the vintage and FF days at Harty ferry site '

He was a great supporter of the club always making sure his subs were payed even if he wasn't well enough to get to the field and writing  brilliant supporting letters when we applied for Cert of Lawful Use for our Stickfast  site.

Geoff would often give us a laugh with some of his work related stories and

I had many pleasant flying sessions with Geoff including a very long walk to get a Free Flight {RC} model back ! yes the radio wasn't switched on .Pic below is of Geoff  having a pint and probably  sharing a joke in the main Hangar at the 2002 nationals .

Our thoughts are with his family and wife Linda

He will be sadly missed

GATES LEFT UNLOCKED AGAIN

 To ALL MEMBERS of MMFC.

Yesterday evening I recieved a phone call informing me that that afternoon BOTH field gates had been found unlocked !
Our field security is paramount to the club and leaving the gate unlocked is just asking for problems .
If its ever found who left the gates unlocked then the person WILL be asked to leave the club .
Its not a lot to ask that the last prson to leave locks up properly and can only be regarded as an act of selfishness .
On a similar note the wind sock kept in the portaloo as recently lef out . which probably meant the toilet was left unlocked ! Fortunately the local oiks never visited and the sock was still inplace .Can you all ensure that the portaloo is LOCKED EVERY TIME after its used as it is often overlooked by the last person leaving the field .
