NO CARS ON FIELD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE !

Hi all. Just had a report from Les and Martin Re the flying field. The recent deluge has left is extremely muddy and soft but some of you have apparently still driven over to the pits leaving deep ruts and damaging the field? In view of that the field will be off limits to cars until the ground dries up a bit.

NO CARS ON FIELD ! PARK ON THE HARD TRACK AREA UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

NO the pic is not of our field but could easily be if whoever it is continues to ignore the conditions !

Geoff Haywood 1944-2022

Geoff Haywood

1944 to 2022I sadly have to inform you that Geoff passed away last week .

Geoff was a long time member of MMFC who joined the club back in the 1970's shortly after it was formed.

Back then it was all control line flying as Radio was far too expensive for most club flyers . Geoff's interests in RC fling was mainly sport model but in later years he would generally turn up with a vintage model with a vintage diesel engine for an afternoons flying.

Geoff always enjoyed the vintage and FF days at Harty ferry site '

He was a great supporter of the club always making sure his subs were payed even if he wasn't well enough to get to the field and writing  brilliant supporting letters when we applied for Cert of Lawful Use for our Stickfast  site.

Geoff would often give us a laugh with some of his work related stories and

I had many pleasant flying sessions with Geoff including a very long walk to get a Free Flight {RC} model back ! yes the radio wasn't switched on .Pic below is of Geoff  having a pint and probably  sharing a joke in the main Hangar at the 2002 nationals .

Our thoughts are with his family and wife Linda

He will be sadly missed

Geoff Haywood

No flowers please.

GATES LEFT UNLOCKED AGAIN

 To ALL MEMBERS of MMFC.

Yesterday evening I recieved a phone call informing me that that afternoon BOTH field gates had been found unlocked !
Our field security is paramount to the club and leaving the gate unlocked is just asking for problems .
If its ever found who left the gates unlocked then the person WILL be asked to leave the club .
Its not a lot to ask that the last prson to leave locks up properly and can only be regarded as an act of selfishness .
On a similar note the wind sock kept in the portaloo as recently lef out . which probably meant the toilet was left unlocked ! Fortunately the local oiks never visited and the sock was still inplace .Can you all ensure that the portaloo is LOCKED EVERY TIME after its used as it is often overlooked by the last person leaving the field .
The committee

Bills Funeral tomorrow

Just a reminder that Bills funeral is tomorrow at Bluebell Hill Crematorium at 4.00 pm

No flowers .please and any donations to be made to the KSS Air Ambulance .

MMFC have donated £50 in Bills memory and will include it in our annual Collection.

Low Attendance at club meetings

At the last monthly club meeting  (un minuted) the attendance was veru low , only 12 members inc the committe . Some of the committee had other duties they had to attend to and sent their  appologies .

Attendance has been going down over the years but has it seems hit an all time low .

The meetings are I feel an essential part of the clubs activities and allow the members to bring up any concerns about the club, exchange ideas and  info regarding models , building etc and have a drink while  getting   to know other members.

The club spirit is feel very low at the moment if not broken . Am I just imagining this  ? Or is it still just a hangover of the lockdown periods we have had to endure ? Please let me know your feelings .

We have to pay per session for the use of the Walnut Tree Club  .  At times this seems a bit of awaste with so few comming along each month

Can we  get back to being a" proper club " or have times moved on ?

Regards

Phil

Obituary :- Bill Lampard 1940 to 2022

Its with great sadness that i have to tell the club that Bill Lampard passed away yesterday Sunday 15th May 2022.
Bill , affectionately know by his mates as "Puffing Billy " was always a Happy soul even though he was suffering badly with COPD . He was allways willing to help out at the tea bars , at club events or just folding the raffle tickets at the indoor flying and in any way he could at the club.
Bill joined MMFC years ago when his Grandson Sonny wanted to learn to fly. I taught Sonny who picked up flying very quickly but Bill never wanted to learn to fly although he was a keen builder .
Pictured below with one of the many models he built off plans as he would never buy a kit as "in his words it was cheatin"
When he was able he always came down the field to watch the flying and have a chat and never missed a club meeting for a drink and a chin wag.
Sadly a couple of years ago Bill slipped and broke his hip and was not able to get to the field again. he still kept in touch via the phone .
He will be missed at MMFC .

I will update Funeral arrangements when they are announced.

Bill Lampard 1940 to 2022

Gone to watch the flying for ever
